Family Grants

Family Grants identifies single parents and their terminally ill children and awards them grants so that families can be together during the especially difficult times in which a child is hospitalized.

Without a Family Grant, a single parent might be obligated to work so that he/she can cover day-to-day living expenses.  With Family Grant, World Charities of America allows single parents to take time away from work and give their sick children the love and attention they truly need.

Those in need of a Family Grant simply fill out our straightforward application for aid and provide us with medical records as well as a letter from the terminally ill child’s primary physician describing the extent of the sickness.  If approved by our awards committee, a single parent can receive a partial grant or a full grant up to $3000 per month within days of applying.

Grants are awarded on a 90-day basis with the possibility of reapplying at the end of the initial term.

Before any family receives a Family Grant it is carefully reviewed first by a physician affiliated with World Charities of America and then by the World Charities of America awards committee. If the medical records and physician’s letter demonstrate that the child is terminally ill, the application proceeds to the awards committee whose members must take into consideration available funds and the pool of applicants as they decide which families could most benefit from a grant.

At World Charities of America we understand the importance of personal attention and loving families.  Family Grant is designed to keep families close when it matters most.

And as with all World Charities of America programs, Family Grants are never awarded in cash to recipient families.  Instead, the organizations providing services are contacted and paid straight from World Charities of America accounts, guaranteeing the appropriate use of funds and freeing the recipient family from the hassle and distraction of handling finances on their own.
