Angel's Gift
The Angel’s Gift program is our way of identifying and addressing the immediate needs of Southern California’s disadvantaged.
Those in need of an Angel’s Gift fill out our simple application for aid and, if approved by the Awards Committee, receive $100-$1200 in assistance within 48 hours of applying.
Angel’s Gifts are granted only to provide people with essential goods and services. Past gifts have been granted to: elderly persons unable to pay the gas and electricity bills for their homes; families for whom car repairs are essential in order to provide regular transportation of a sick loved one to a treatment center (such as a chemotherapy center); individuals in need of a bus/plane ticket in order to attend a family member’s funeral.
Angel’s Gifts are awarded exclusively to people who demonstrate an obvious need for an essential good or service. Under no circumstances will World Charities of America award gifts to assist in non-essential cases of need. Angel’s Gifts are not for individuals seeking money to make home-improvements, to start a business, to vacation, or to undergo medical treatment for a non-life-threatening ailment.
The real strength of the Angel’s Gift program lies in our simple application for aid. Unlike the more complicated forms of state and local government assistance that demand a considerable amount of time, English language skill, and technical know-how to obtain, Angel’s Gifts involve very little paper work and no waiting in lines.
Often, those in need of an Angel’s Gift are referred to World Charities of America by a member of another organization, be it a church, free health care clinic, YMCA, social assistance program, etc. The members of these other organizations often act as sponsors for those in need, guiding them to World Charities of America and many times assisting with the application. We rely heavily on these sponsors; their close, personal connections to Southern Californians in need are crucial to making our donor dollars as effective as possible.
To guarantee that donor dollars are used correctly and honestly, Angel’s Gifts are never awarded in cash directly to the disadvantaged. World Charities of America makes payments straight to the companies providing the goods and services related to the Angel’s Gift.
In addition, World Charities of America volunteers follow up every Angel’s Gift case to verify that the correct services were provided and received.
